Secret Goals. I guess you could call those wishes. You know, those things that you know will probably in million years never happen but you still hope anyway. One of my secret goals…is…towriteabookthatwillbeillustratedbyMarlaFrazee. Gosh, I love that woman’s art. I know. I don’t have any control over who will illustrate my books. And I’m over the moon already about the two illustrators chosen for my first two picture books. (this one! and this one! )
But I’ve got more books in me and you know…one can dream.

Well, not that Harcourt book. But maybe a future one. (And just to be clear, nothing at all is in the works for Marla to illustrate a book of mine. I just reaaaaaallly like her art.)

Marla’s doing my next two picture books — talk about over the moon — and I’m in total and utter agreement with you — she is beyond fabulous. I feel really lucky…
Your illustrators look amazing in their own TOTALLY different ways — can’t wait to see the books — when will they be out? (Also, you may not have control over who illustrates your books but you can offer helpful little suggestions to your editor :))
Both of the books that already have illustrators should be out in 2009. One in Spring, the other in Fall. But I don’t think my Harcourt pb has a target date yet.
